Economic Alliance - Houston Port Region - South Houston

South Houston, founded in 1907 by developers for the Western Land Co., was originally known as DUMONT. South Houston, incorporated as a town in 1913, has been designated as the place where the First Flight in Texas occurred.  This event is honored with a historical marker, located at 58 Spencer Highway, by the Texas Historical Commission.
