Early on in this project, energy was identified as a major concern of plant managers.  Natural gas is a key component to the petrochemical and refining process  affected by both price and availability.  It is used not only as a fuel but also as a primary feedstock.  Natural gas infrastructure provides a competitive edge in the four county region.

The Energy Solution Team provided support for liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities locating in the four county region.  On an ongoing basis, the Team will sustain its support for LNG facilities, including the preservation of the Pelican Island site.  It will remain an advocate for alternative energy sources such as coal gasification, solar, wind and nuclear energy.  It will also work closely with energy suppliers to ensure reliatble delivery of power to Port region companies during crisis conditions.
