The
Gulf Coast Freight Rail District
was chartered by the State of Texas in 2007.
Its mission is to better incorporate rail lines,
both freight and commuter, into the region's
transportation network. The District is tasked
with sustaining regional and economic growth by
guiding development of the rail network in a way
that limits its impact on quality of life.
The Rail Team
championed the enactment of the Gulf Coast Freight
Rail District. The
Alliance holds a seat on the Rail District's Board
of Directors. The first meeting of the Rail
District was on August 22, 2007.
