According to recent surveys and economic studies,
the underdevelopment of qualified job skills is a primary reason behind slowed
U.S. petrochemical industry expansion. The Workforce Team was developed
to address this issue.
The Team focused
on working with
local community
and technical
colleges to
offer
specialized
training
programs aligned
with industry
needs.
A collaboration
of four local
community
colleges --
Brazosport
College, College
of the Mainland,
Lee College and
San Jacinto
College -- were
formed to seek
funding for and
develop
specialized
training and
career awareness
programs.
Informing local residents of job opportunities in
the petrochemical industry is an important part of the solution.
Designing appropriate curricula to get workers prepared for those jobs is also
critical. The Gulf Coast Petrochemical
Information Network partners the regions colleges in developing
curricula to train the next generation of Gulf Coast manufacturers. We
have provided
links to
training programs
within
this website
as well as a
link where
employers
and job seekers may obtain information about employment.
